Dr. Utkarsh Rai, a dynamic and dedicated eye surgeon, attained his MBBS degree from GMCH, Guwahati (under the meritorious NEC scholarship), and Masters apprenticeship MS Ophthalmology from AMCH (previously John Berry White Medical School) under Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences. He completed his Fellowship in Advanced Cataract and Anterior Segment surgeries from the prestigious Sankara Eye Foundation. He underwent subspecialty training in Retina from the prestigious LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI). He has vast experience in the field of Cataract, Glaucoma and Refractive Surgeries with expertise in Phacoemulsification Micro-incision surgery including Complicated Cataract surgeries,  Toric, Multifocal & Trifocal Intraocular Implants), Phakic IOLs, Secondary IOLs and  Femto Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS) or Robotic Cataract Surgery. He has keen interest in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeries including eyelid malpositions, blepharoplasty, oculo-facial trauma, pathologies of the lacrimal drainage system.

Apart from honing his clinical acumen, his significant contributions to the scientific community can be gauged through his  publications in international peer-reviewed journals as well as his presentations at various national and international scientific conferences, most recently, being the Gold Medal award in the free paper presentation in the Annual Conference of HOS 2024. He is a life-member of many premiere scientific associations such as AIOS, DOS, OPAI, GSI, YOSI, OSA, EIZOS, ISMSICS.
