About Dr. Manabjyoti Barman
Dr. Manabjyoti Barman is a distinguished Ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience specializing in Vitreo-Retinal diseases and Ocular Oncology. He has been instrumental in the management of Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and Retinoblastoma.
Dr. Barman completed his MBBS in 1996 from Guwahati Medical College, Assam, India. He earned his Diploma in Ophthalmology in 2000 from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, and his DNB in Ophthalmology in 2006 from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi, India. He holds a medical registration with AMC (Reg No. 13317).
He has undergone specialized training in Vitreo-Retinal disease and surgery at the Medical Retina Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, India, and in Ocular Oncology at Wills Eye Institute, Philadelphia, PA, USA, and New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York, NY, USA.
Dr. Barman’s professional journey includes a notable tenure as a Vitreo-Retinal surgeon at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati, Assam. He has served as the Head of the Department of Vitreo-Retina & Ocular Oncology and the Assistant Medical Director (Academics) at the same institution. Additionally, he has been member secretary of the Institutional Research & Ethics Committee and has actively participated in multiple research projects and organized conferences and CME programs.
Dr. Barman is a prolific academic contributor with over 300 oral presentations as an invited speaker at national and international conferences. He has served as a reviewer and judge for competitive sessions and is a reviewer for prestigious journals such as IOVS (ARVO) and Ophthalmology (JCOR). He is also a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Ocular Sciences and Ophthalmology (JOSO).
His extensive list of publications includes numerous articles in reputed ophthalmology journals and several book chapters. Dr. Barman has contributed significantly to the research on diabetic retinopathy, ocular tumors, and innovative surgical techniques.
Dr. Barman is a life member of several professional organizations, including the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the All India Ophthalmic Society (AIOS).VRSI- Vitreo Retina Society of India
