Dr. Vatsalya Venkatraman is a dedicated and passionate oculoplastic and facial aesthetic surgeon currently affiliated with ASG Eye Hospitals in Jodhpur. With a strong focus on contributing to team success through hard work, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills, she has established herself as a valuable asset in the field.
Dr. Venkatraman completed her undergraduate studies (MBBS) at BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from 2011 to 2017. Following her graduation, she pursued her postgraduate degree (MD) in Ophthalmology at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi, from 2017 to 2020. To further enhance her knowledge and skills, she underwent a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Ocular Oncology, and Facial Aesthetics at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya in Guwahati, Assam, from 2021 to 2022. Additionally, she holds a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Cosmetology and Facial Aesthetics from ILAMED in Mumbai. She has also received certification as an Allergan aesthetic physician for upper face rejuvenation.
Dr. Venkatraman’s expertise lies in the medical and surgical management of various oculoplastic conditions, including eyelid malpositions, ptosis, oculo-facial trauma, orbital fracture reconstructions, pathologies of the lacrimal drainage system, thyroid eye disease, and ocular and orbital tumors. She places special emphasis on the functional and aesthetic rehabilitation of patients with mass lesions involving the eyelids, lacrimal system, orbit, and mid-face. Furthermore, she has notable experience in the treatment of retinoblastoma and other intraocular tumors.
As an active member of professional organizations, Dr. Venkatraman is a lifetime member of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), Oculoplastics Association of India (OPAI), Young Ophthalmologists Society of India (YOSI), and Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS). Her involvement in these societies reflects her commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements in her field.
Dr. Venkatraman has made significant contributions to the scientific community through her publications in peer-reviewed journals. She has also authored chapters in textbooks of ophthalmology, such as “Atlas of Orbital Imaging” published by Springer and “Advances in Pediatric Periocular Vascular Neoplasms” published by Elsevier. Her expertise has been recognized at national and international conferences, where she has delivered faculty talks and conducted instructional courses. Notably, she won the free paper presentation session as a presenting author in the YO OPAI Session at the Oculoplastics Association of India Conference in 2021. Additionally, she was a co-author of the paper that secured the BEST PAPER IN EXTERNAL DISEASE CATEGORY and the video that received the C S RESHMI AWARD for the BEST VIDEO PRESENTATION at AIOS in 2022. Dr. Venkatraman presented a Narrated E-poster presentation as a presenting author on “Use of Platelet-rich Fibrin as a three-dimensional surface scaffold in the reconstruction of contracted sockets” at the International Orbital Society Symposium (IOSS) held in Seoul, South Korea, in December 2022. Her recent achievement includes winning the Best Poster Podium Presentation in Oculoplasty at AIOS 2023.
