Expert Diagnosis & Laser Treatment for Healthy Vision

Keratoconus

Keratoconus

Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition in which the cornea — the clear front surface of the eye — becomes thin and bulges outward into a cone-like shape. This irregular corneal shape causes blurred and distorted vision, making daily activities such as reading, driving, and screen use difficult.

Corneal Ulcer

Corneal Ulcer

A corneal ulcer is an open sore or wound on the cornea, the transparent front layer of the eye. It is usually caused by bacterial, viral, fungal, or parasitic infections and can lead to severe pain, redness, blurred vision, and even permanent vision loss if not treated promptly.

Corneal Dystrophy

Corneal Dystrophy

Corneal dystrophy is a group of inherited eye disorders that affect the cornea — the clear front surface of the eye. In this condition, abnormal material gradually builds up in one or more layers of the cornea, leading to cloudy vision, discomfort, glare, and progressive vision loss.

Fuchs Dystrophy

Fuchs Dystrophy

Fuchs’ dystrophy, also known as Fuchs’ endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD), is a progressive eye condition that affects the innermost layer of the cornea called the endothelium. These endothelial cells help remove excess fluid from the cornea to keep it clear.

Dry Eye Syndrome

Dry Eye Syndrome

Dry Eye Syndrome is a common eye condition that occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears or when tears evaporate too quickly. Tears are essential for maintaining eye comfort, protecting the cornea, and ensuring clear vision.

Corneal Abrasion

Corneal Abrasion

A corneal abrasion is a scratch or injury on the cornea — the clear, protective front surface of the eye. Even a small scratch on the cornea can cause significant discomfort, redness, watering, and blurred vision because the cornea contains many sensitive nerve endings.

Cornea Disorders: Causes, Symptoms & Advanced Treatment

What are Cornea Disorders?

The cornea is the clear, dome-shaped front surface of the eye that helps focus light for clear vision. Any infection, injury, swelling, thinning, or irregularity in the cornea can affect eyesight and may lead to blurred vision, discomfort, or even permanent vision loss if left untreated. Cornea disorders can develop due to infections, genetic conditions, trauma, dry eyes, or age-related changes. Early diagnosis and timely treatment are essential to protect vision and maintain eye health.

Symptoms of Cornea Disorders

Patients with corneal problems may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Blurred or distorted vision

  • Eye redness or irritation

  • Sensitivity to light (Photophobia)

  • Eye pain or foreign body sensation

  • Excessive watering or discharge

  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses

  • White or grey spot on the eye

  • Sudden or gradual vision changes

  • Burning or dryness in the eyes

If these symptoms persist, an eye specialist consultation is recommended immediately.

Clear Answers for Better Vision

The cornea is the transparent front layer of the eye that helps focus incoming light and protects the eye from dust, germs, and injuries.

Yes, untreated corneal diseases or infections can lead to severe vision loss or blindness in advanced stages.

Recovery time varies depending on the type of transplant and the patient’s healing response. Full recovery may take several weeks to months.
